Greetings and best wishes from Mr. Allied and welcome to my sale! Please have confidence in my 100% honest descriptions and please read the following carefully. You are looking at a piece of toy train history here. This is a scale model of the Pennsylvania Railroads legendary, Raymond Loewy designed, GG1 locomotive, built by William C. Hendrich and marketed under his company name Gold Standard Engineering, of Glendora, California, circa 1978. This locomotive runs on 3-rail, standard gauge track, using AC power from a standard toy train transformer. My name is Allen Drucker, TCA 71-3974, TTOS 277 and I recently obtained this beautiful GG1 from the daughter of the original owner. This stunning example of engineering excellence measures 30 long and weighs in at 30 pounds! It is one of only approximately 40 such models ever built and calling it The Dusenberg of toy trains, like the fabled cars produced by Fred and Augie Dusenberg, would not be out of line, as these incredible models were over engineered, to pretty much last forever. This model features a solid, cast aluminum body, cast bronze trucks, dual 12-pole, 1/35th horsepower motors, driving all twelve, cold rolled, steel wheels, through industrial steel gears and bronze bushings. The pulling power of this model is unequaled by anything even close to its size.

Even though exact numbers are not known, it is believed by those who are highly knowledgeable on the subject, that the Brunswick Green examples, such as this 4935 model are less common than the Tuscan Red version that were also produced as part of the 40 piece, standard gauge run. 25, which is significant, as the builder made several, important upgrades to the models, starting with serial No. This particular example shows very little running time on the wheels and center rail pick-ups. The cosmetics are not flawless, but this model does present itself very nicely, please see photos. What this model really needs, is a good cleaning and polishing, as it is suffering from sitting around in a garage for the past several decades.

I would imagine that at least some of the imperfections you see in the photos should clean or polish off. I bench tested this model using a tiny, 60 watt, Lionel transformer and with the very first increase of the throttle, the drive wheels moved smoothly and with very little sound, for such complex drive mechanisms. A 3-position toggle switch, mounted on one of the power trucks, allows for forward, off and reverse functions. Both headlights work and are directionally controlled. One of the great features of this model, is it was engineered to run on regular, 42 diameter, standard gauge curved track! So, it will operate on most any layout. It is equipped with Lionel type "combination" couplers, which will work either with the common "latch" type couplers or the earlier "creased hook" type couplers. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PHOTOS ARE AN INTEGRAL and a VERY IMPORTANT PART OF THIS LISTING. You NEED to "ZOOM IN" and STUDY the photos very carefully. What you see is what you get. I want to EARN positive feed back from you, along with 5 Star Customer Service. THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING THIS MR.
