Accucraft 1:20.3 D&RGW C-16 2-8-0 w open tender and Phoenix Sound. Up for sale is an Accucraft 1:20.3 scale 45mm gauge C-16 painted as D&RGW 278 with a flying Rio Grande logo. While used the locomotive spent its years as a display in an office.

It has very limited run time. The locomotive has been serviced and is ready to run.

This is locomotive 15 in a series of 100. What is rather unique for this specific model is its tender. Almost all of Accucraft steam locomotives tenders are a hollow shell with a fake coal load covering a hollow tender opening. This tender is modeled like the prototype with an open coal bin surrounded by a cavity that holds the water. The model is equipped with a Phoenix Big Sound 96/97 sound system with a C-16 sound file. The original battery was replaced with a new 6 cell NiMh battery pack. These cells are split between the left side and right side water sections to provide balance.

(If you shake the tender the rattle you hear are the battery packs). Magnetic sensors on the tender trucks are for blowing the grade crossing or bell. Magnetic chuff pickups are on a rear tender axle (see photos). An Accucraft coupler has been fitted to go into the front coupler pocket. A post is used to hold the coupler in place.

The coupler post (2/56 machine screw) and tender rerailers are enclosed in a separate plastic bag. There is a dent on the air tank on top of the tender. As delivered from Accucraft the tender trucks had a very narrow back to back spacing. The spacing is now within G1MRA specifications.
