Williams O Gauge Delaware & Hudson Aba Shark Nose Diesels W Sound #sn201s
CAB #'s POWERED "A" UNIT #1216. Sharknose is a term applied by railfans to the styling of several cab unit diesel locomotives built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works to the specifications of the Pennsylvania Railroad. The styling was by the PRR's preferred designer, Raymond Loewy, with the distinctive reminiscent of his design for the PRR T1 steam locomotive.
By 1972, all but the 1205 and the 1216, had been scrapped. In 1978 and it is reported that they have been stored out of view on the property of the Escanaba & Lake Superior Railroad for more than 20 years. These excellent replicas of the famous Baldwin Locomotive Works were made by Williams Electric Trains and carry the name of the Delaware & Hudson Railroad. They are Cab Number 1205 and 1216 for the A powered and non-powered units.
Also included is number 1210 for the B unit. All three of these units are in excellent condition and have only minimal track time. The non-powered A unit has sound on board and was bench tested to be found in perfect working order. All lights and number boards work and the powered unit is strong in forward and reverse. They have been well maintained by their previous owner and there are no scratches or scrapes on any unit.
The life and performance of the locomotives depends, to a considerable extent, upon lubrication of the motor, trucks and other moving parts. As with all used locomotives, I do recommend a thorough cleaning and complete lubrication periodically and before initial use. A small amount of oil and lubricant, properly applied, goes a long way towards long life and great performance. Some of the outstanding features of the diesels are. Electronic 6 amp reverse board. True Blast II digital horn & bell. Rail yard sounds (from non-powered A unit). Operating front couplers (on A units).
