Lionel Standard Gauge 400E Blue Comet Set with original boxes. 400E Loco - Has all original castings which is rare to find. Boiler front was cracked and repaired (see photo). Has some chips in casting (see photo). Boiler is in Excellent Plus (C7+) condition except paint loss on side of frame. Frame is in Excellent (C7) condition. 400W Tender - In Excellent Plus to Like New (C7+ to C8) condition except some paint chipping. 420 Faye Pullman Car - In Like New (C8) condition. 421 Westphal Pullman Car - In Like New (C8) condition. 422 Tempel Observation Car - In Like New (C8) condition. Original boxes - tattered with some flaps missing (see pictures). This may have the most eye appeal of any train set! The Blue Comet was originally a passenger train running between New York City and Atlantic City, NJ, from 1929 to 1941 by the Central Railroad of New Jersey. The trip took about three hours with the capability of reaching 100 mph. In overall Excellent Plus (C7+) condition.
