General Trains Inc #123 M10000 toy train set streamliner standard gauge old look
UP streamliner toy train set from 1934. Ive always been told that they made these in very limited production of right around 150 units and this set was based upon original concept drawings of the actual M10000 UP train set that was set to come out in 1935. Ive tested the motor with jumper wires and it does run but one of the idler gears on the one side is bad and will need replaced or removed because there is a good idler gear on the other side of the motor that is good.
Not sure why they geared these on both sides of the motor but they did and I guess its a good thing. In the last pic you can see by the armature gear where there is a chunk taken out of that particular idler gear. There is a solder repair that is holding one of the wheels on the motor at this time.
The motor does turn but it does have a few areas where the gears are not meshing secondary to the one bad gear. I do not have the track to run the set and ive had it on display here for a while and its really a huge beast!!
I have not checked the lights on the train but as far as what it looks like most of the original wiring is in place but not 100% sure. Please see all pics it has all of the light lenses and it does have several scuffs and an area on the roof of the tail end car that has some paint worn off. It does have one It does have one area on the L side of the tail car that has some what looks like touch up paint or an abrasion. On the loco body casting there is a part of the casting that has been removed by the front L wheel of the motor.
Unsure but maybe they were trying to make it turn shorter radius track but dont know its only changed on the one side of the casting. I also do not have any of the original track or the original springs that would have held the cars together when they are being ran, but they look like old storm door springs. This set is really a sight to be seen and its huge and its all cast aluminum construction and I think its one of the neatest M1000's ever made, period. I also package well and I use computer generated labels with tracking #'s on all my packaging. Please also see my other listings for more train items.
