Lionel Nickel Plate Special O Gauge Train Set 4-4-2 Steam 8617 NEW UNUSED
Lionel Nickel Plate Special electric train set featuring the Nickel Plate Road #8617 heavy die-cast 4-4-2 steam locomotive and tender. This is an outstanding survivor that has never been run or placed into service. The set has been opened, but the contents have remained unused, with many of the original accessories still bagged and unassembled. The locomotive features Lionel's heavy die-cast construction and was equipped from the factory with puffing smoke, steam sound and electronic forward-neutral-reverse operation. The original set also includes Nickel Plate Road rolling stock and the track, transformer and accessories supplied with the set.
Features shown/listed on the original box include. Lionel heavy die-cast 4-4-2 steam locomotive. Metal wheels and operating couplers. 45" x 27" oval layout. This set is unused and has never been run.
The locomotive and rolling stock remain extremely clean. Many of the accessories are still contained in their original plastic bags and have never been assembled. The original box does show substantial storage/shelf wear, including worn edges and corners, scuffing, creasing and other age-related packaging wear. This is cosmetic wear to the original packaging and is clearly shown in the photographs. Because the locomotive has never previously been operated, we have intentionally left it untested rather than running it for the first time.
